 Presented by Yorkshire Film Archive

A rare opportunity to experience a remarkable mix of archive footage all about the places – and people - we know so well, as the Yorkshire Film Archive takes you on a journey through time revealing the rich film heritage of our Yorkshire coastline, with Bridlington centre stage.

Using amateur and home movies, travelogues and regional TV productions, our curators have been working in partnership with the BFI’s Britain on Film project to preserve and digitise more of our Yorkshire film heritage collections to bring audiences a new programme of screenings and events,

From early images of egg harvesting on the cliffs at Bempton to a Yorkshire TV documentary about the country’s most poisonous fish presented by Michael Clegg, life boats and lobster fishing, wartime activities and pleasure cruises there will be something for everyone!

With Bridlington beach and harbour a familiar backdrop, you’re bound to recognise familiar faces and places, and who knows, perhaps you might even spot family or friends fleetingly captured on film, and now revealed once more as Bridlington on Film.

An opportunity for all Bridlingtonians not to be missed at Bridlington Bijou Spotlight Theatre.

Describing BACK AND TO THE LEFT is like trying to describe an enigma in a rice pudding. Performing original music and comedy in a unique comedy style they are a wow wherever they appear. If you like comedy that’s fresh, genuinely funny, and a little bit strange this so the act you must not miss. (More to follow).

Clever, quick, sharp, original and edgy. We must be talking about LORNA GRAY. Oh! and did we mention that she likes cats and she is hilariously funny. Even if you don’t like cats don’t miss her.

JAMIE STEVENS has spent the last few years wowing audiences across Yorkshire and beyond. His personable style, skill and unique material have made him a hot ticket wherever he performs. He is surely destined for great things on the comedy world and we are so excited that he will finally be appearing in Bridlington.

The amazing HOLLIE NOBLE is a rare special talent. Young, clever and incredibly funny. She is making a big splash on the stand up circuit and recently toured with her own show 'Janifesto' which went on to win Best Comedy Show and the Audience Choice Award. If you haven't seen her before take my word for it, it's a real treat and you're sure to love her. We are so excited that she is coming to Bridlington.

DANIEL BLACOW was a finalist in the the Hull What’s On Comedian of The Year Final 2024 . His hilarious, clever material combined with his friendly, sharp delivery will have your sides splitting. A superstar of the future.

Saturday 13th September @ 7:30pm

Sunday 14th September @ 2:30pm

Tickets £12

Back in Bridlington by popular demand!

Adults only

Bursting with imagination and wit and presented by just four actors, Bouncers is an outrageous and hilarious parody of the disco scene.

The four brutish bouncers of the title portray over twenty different characters as we are invited for a night out on the town.

We see them as giggly girls and lads on the make preparing for the big night out as we follow their progress to the disco floor where we also meet an entire cross-section of disco-goers, including Hooray Henrys, pogoing punks and drunken slobs!

The evening's events are set against the tatty glitzy glamour, flashing lights and pulsating beat of the nightclub, as seen through the eyes of Judd, Ralph, Les and Lucky Eric

An exhilarating night out for all concerned.

`Consistently entertaining.' - Evening Standard
`Bouncers is brilliant.' - Daily Mail

The Old Curiosity Shop

Saturday 8th November @ 7:30pm

Sunday 9th November @ 2:30pm

All tickets £15, Concessions £10

First published in 1841, The Old Curiosity Shop was Charles Dickens’ fourth novel and a phenomenon in its day. When the final instalment arrived by ship in New York, eager readers reportedly stormed the dock in anticipation.

This powerful story follows Nell Trent and her grandfather, residents of the eponymous London shop, whose lives are upended by debt, desperation and the sinister influence of moneylender Daniel Quilp. As the grandfather’s gambling spirals out of control, the pair are forced to flee, encountering danger and kindness in equal measure.

In this evocative stage production, the tale is enriched with a vibrant musical score composed by John Holtby. Originally adapted in 1990 by Norman F. Parker, the script has since been revised, with new musical numbers added by Richard Green, who also directs.

Staying true to the era of the novel, the production evokes a rich, Hogarthian atmosphere. Expect humour, heartbreak and unforgettable characters in this dramatic retelling of one of Dickens’ most enduring works.
